Forget the Resolutions

Should old acquaintance be forgot...
*starts humming the rest*

LOL, I mean seriously....who knows that song fully? If it's you, hats off!

Anywhoooo, 2014 is pretty much over. With 2015 right next door (literally), I wanted to share a new idea with you. New year brings RESOLUTIONS. Most of which we can not keep. I'm not sure about you but I'm honestly tired with it! Why keep making them if you're not going to do them?

So for 2015 I wanted to do something different. You know how you hear people say "if I could go back and have a talk to my younger self?" We'll let's do that... but in reverse. I will be writing a letter to my future self. What would I expect from myself for? In a nutshell, that's what will be in the letter. Now the catch is... IT CAN'T BE OPENED UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2015. Get where I'm going with this? It's something like a challenge but also a great experience. You get to live your whole year out then see what you past self says to your, then, present self.

I thought this would be a great way to bring the new year not only to exclude the burden of a resolutions but it bring some anticipation and happiness.

If this doesn't exactly catch your fancy, my cousin, Jon, sent me a link to another idea. Here at Buzzfeed . Both are definitely great ideas. I'm doing both. I would love for you all to join me. It's something different for a whole new book

I have enjoyed you all so much. I wish you and yours a great, wonderful new year. *kisses*

Stay Stylish. xo

Happy 2015!!

OOTD-OOTN : Birthday Behavior

I gained a year of life and showed out #StyleBunch ... (don't judge me, LOL)

I turned 23, y'all!! *insert 50 Cent 'In the Club' beat*

My actual birthday fell on a Wednesday. I mean there isn't much to do. So when the weekend rolled around I told myself to have fun. That's exactly what I did. I took off from work, booked a room, and went out! So much fun, I recommend it.

Anyways, I planned my outfits way ahead of time. Well, at least one. Everything else just came. I have to say I did pretty darn good.

I went lots of different routes with my picks but they all stand out.

My first outfit was for a luncheon. Let me be honest, the only thing new in this outfit was my booties (from GoJane, but are sold out). While cleaning my closet one day, I found my years old Material Girl black jumpsuit. No lie I had been looking for it for a while. I was so excited to find it. I knew it was going into my bag. It still fits great !! I paired it with a army fatigue jacket from Old Navy and, to contrast, my leopard scarf from F21. It was a little gray outside too. I had to protect my neck, LOL.

This is the only outfit I had planned! I knew I wanted to show some skin (just a tad). I've been doing really good with my side boob action and I went for it. Celeb stylist, Olori Swank, has an online boutique, Swank Blue. I found the perfect bodysuit for what I was trying to accomplish. I bought it then (I get super paranoid when shopping during the holidays). The pants are from Old Navy, the RockStar cut (my fave for the curves). Everything else, I've had for who knows how long. It all came out great, what do you think?

This is my 'I gotta go home unfortunately' ensemble. Everything just has to come to an end and after a night of partying, I needed some all around comfort. Let's not forget the hassle of checking out, carrying your own bags, AND only having 2 hours of sleep. Moment of silence for my arms and patience......
Anyways, I kind of meshed the two outfits into one. Took my jumpsuit , tied my flannel around it and sported my gold shoes from Old Navy, clearance! (Can you tell they've been having a good sale? Hint Hint #StyleBunch) I was so comfortable. Style on 100. Confidence on a trillion.

All in all, my birthday weekend was amazing! I had a ball. I wish I could relive it. I made it my own and had nothing but positive energy. That was what I really wanted. Plus my wish to have my #StyleBunch with me. There's always next year, LOL!

Thank you my darling for the love and support.
xo. Lovely

ps. I have to take a moment to and say thanks COUSIN LENA for being my photographer on club night. She's the awsomest *smoochies*

Only a real one can sneak up like that! #StyleBunch meet Lena

SCW: Tia Mowry

*peeks around from hiding*

Hey, hey #StyleBunch

I know it's been forever since I last posted. So sorry for that. I'm here now and I'm doing well as I hope that you are too.

Since its Wednesday, what better way to make a come back then by bringing you my STYLE CRUSH WEDNESDAY!! This week I give you Tia Mowry, well known actress and mom. She and her twin sister, Tamera, have pretty much been part of my life (probably yours as well) for ... ohhh I don't know, let's just say years! Making their comeback as grown, married women (now moms), I can't help but follow both of their journeys as well as styles.

Lately, I have noticed that Tia has been giving me lots of life with her new box braids hairstyle, I couldn't be more impressed. She's giving face, bringing sass (with class), and owning all of it.

I don't know what her hairstylist did but where do I make my appointment? Tia has always been a vibrant woman. I look up to her for that but it seems that now you can really see her and enjoy her. Her styles have been amazing with the biggest theme of simplicity, which makes it easy to inspire.

I salute Tia for her growth and her ability to show it with the many titles she does have. She looks great! She's sending a big message not only to the moms but the working women of ALL ages. Thank you Tia.

#FeelGoodBloggingChallenge Day 5: Help me, HELP you

The challenge is slowly coming to an end. I'm not sure if I'm exactly ready...hmmm

Well we're here at day numero CINCO! The topic: HELP. A particularly odd topic for a style blogger (well at least from where my mind is). However, when you think about it, I've somewhat helped... since the beginning of SP. So I'm going to kind of go a different direction with this

Let's start here

Being helpful has always been easy for me. All the people I come across, I want to succeed in whatever it is that they succeed in. People (even myself) will have ideas that they would love to see come to life... but never follow through. That's a problem! Why not make it happen? SP started as a compliment, then a thought, then an actual blog. I find pleasure in my blogging. Now what about your ideas, projects, etc.? DO IT! It's never hurt to make your dreams a reality. Research and make thing happen. Sitting on a 'What If" has to be one of the worst feelings ever. Don't let that be you. Research, ask questions, and make it exist.

Seriously.

Do you know how many times I've been on YouTube for a new hairstyle? Plenty. Whether it was a success or not, I did it. Go find what you love and do it. :)

#FeelGoodBloggingChallenge Day 4: 10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me

It seems like every time I get a request I have no clue on what to say. I don't know why..... Just sounds like confusion LOL I always get through it though *thumbs up*

This is a little bit of me:

1) I will be 23 in December. Yes, I am only 22. My Jordan year is coming. So the plan is to make it great. I don't know what I'm going to do but I do know what I want to wear LOL that's usually how it goes. Outfit first then plans. Yes, I'm backwards.

2) My full name adds up to 22 letters. Sometimes I wonder what my mom's motive was with spelling. My first name is nine letters. My middle name is four. My last is nine.

3) I think I have a slight case of OCD. I feel like everybody does but I'm just acknowledging mines. Its always that one place where you cat yourself paranoid, super careful, and in a routine. In my case, its restrooms. There are a few other places but that's my big area especially public ones. I pull the door twice door twice to make sure its locked. When I walk out of the stall I have to check it at least twice to make sure its flushed and all that jazz. It's wild.

4) I have wanted to go to Hawaii since 5th grade. It started because our last project for 5th grade was a state profile. In a nutshell, gather as much information on the state, present it, and get your final grade. I chose Hawaii. When I did my research, I just fell in love. I had a serious obsession with Hawaii and still kind of do. I just never been. WHEN I finally get there I don't know if I'll even be able to control my excitement.

5) I have NEVER been injured to the point of hospitalization and/or stitches. I'm still shocked that I haven't been in the hospital because I'm so clumsy its ridiculous. I've had some injuries but never needed a doctor's touch for repair.

6) I love nature and animals. I can not count how many times I have been slammed for this. I have always been brought up to enjoy the lovely things God has created and I definitely find it in nature and animals. I love the sun, the moon, oceans, etc. They bring peace to me and even time to think. I go camping every year and every year I get the shocked facial expression followed by "Are you serious?" It never fails. Animals are just beautiful to me. I picture them as children even though most are way bigger than me. If I could have my own animal kingdom, I would take it. I want all kinds, so believe me when I say it would be huge!

7) I want to be a radio personality. I love radio! Especially morning shows. They seem like so much fun. I've always been a talker and I major in communication so I think it was definitely meant. Talking about media, celebs, and fashion ...plus a few personal things... That's right up my alley.

8) I don't go out like you may think. I'm always in. I am a mix between an introvert and an extrovert. I don't get to practice my extrovert ways as much as I would like but I do plan to change that soon. I am young. I shouldn't be stuck inside.

9) I am a Gladiator. OMG! Shonda Rhimes gives me a heart attack every week. I really look forward to the TGIT line-up. I do not move at all, I'm stuck for 3 hours yelling at the TV (if need be). I have had people ask to do stuff on Thursday nights and I simply reply , "I'm booked" LOL. They know what day it is!

10) I'm a sucker for old cartoons.  I have since I was young. I used to watch Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, The Flinstones, etc. faithfully! I loved them then and I love them still to this day. I don't think its a real explanation because I grew up with it. I've grown up, but not all the way. :)

#FeelGoodBloggingChallenge Day 3: How To

I know I'm some days behind. I promise you it was good reason to. I do apologize for it. I even almost dropped out of it because I felt I was too behind. However, after sitting back and thinking...even looking at the comments in the blogging group... I knew giving up was not the day to go.

Today I'm bringing you my day 3. A 'How To' post. Topic: How to Style Fur

Considering that it's the fall season and fur (I personally prefer faux) being the trend, this is the perfect way to help know how to style.

These three styles should give you all a good idea for the time of day and also the type of fur (as far the piece). Now keep in mind that fur is a very versatile statement piece. It can be worn day or night. Lets jump right in!

Night:

Fur can usually be seen mostly at night. With Fall and winter approaching, I say go for a long sleeve jacket. Not only to be warm but to bring more to what your wearing. Here , I placed it with a printed pencil skirt and a sleeveless tee. The skirt will give the slim  appearance which leads up to your statement  fur around. Once u get to a destination, take off the fur to show the skirt then as a statement piece also. Its a tag team effect with it and that will definitely make you the talk of the party.

Casual (Day or Night):

This is my favorite. I think you will definitely see more vests than long sleeves. In this look I see more of a day time appearance, only because I placed a boot with it. Make it simple yet stylish with a tee, a bold lippie and jewelry. However, turning it into a nighttime look wouldn't even be a tough task.  You can keep the tee or you can switch it out with a long sleeve shirt but don't make the shirt outshine your fur. Remember you want the focus on the vest. Then you can trade out the boot for either peep toe booties or a simple pump (or not so simple). Think,  movie night. Bring your own sort of POP! Make it you're own!

Day:

Here, I took the trend and placed it as an accessories. With accessories, it's a different ball game. Usually, you have the outfit first then you bring on the accessories to compliment. That could bee the same here but It wasn't. I wanted to bring out the different ways that fur can be presented. This piece would be perfect with a dress. Cut out booties are in now as well. so bring the two together. You don't necessarily need a jacket or anything but for some you might want that extra cover just to add something. Complete with a dark lip and you on your way.

Styling fur is not hard at all. Putting you mind to it is couldn't be stressful. With these ideas, you can take it head on and look amazing at any time of day.

#FeelGoodBloggingChallenge : What's your passion? (Day 2)

Passion. It's a hard word for me to describe because I have so many. Choosing one would be impossible. However to make them all connect , I'd say LIFE is my passion.

The only child to a single mother. I was a child way ahead of  her time and didn't even know it. I was very observant and I always tried to find the good in something. I always knew I wanted ever one happy, including myself. I wanted to do so many things that I couldn't (because my mother couldn't afford it).

I think that took a serious toll on me. Now, if I think it up or show interest I have to try it. I have plenty of what if's and now I'm just exploring the things I love. I'm only 22 so there is definitely time. Considering my age, I do feel that I am still on a journey finding my true passion. If I were to give you a list of my passions this would be my longest post ever.  My plan is to simply execute. In my future I just want to do something(s) that I love and be happy. It doesn't hurt to try. My end result: Inspire!

Feel Good Blogging Challenge Day #1

So in my last post I mentioned doing the Feel Good Challenge, started by the amazing Alex Beadon. I've been following her for a while now and she's been very helpful in my blogging journey. I thought this would be a good way to challenge myself and for you to get to know me more. Seems like the right thing, right?

Sign up on alexbeadon.com . You'll receive an email with the topic and how to share it. EASY!

So how it's done is Alex gives you questions to answer in your post. For the next 7 days, answer them in a post.

Let's Go!!!

Who are you?

I am Brittanee (my full spelling). A 22-year-old communication major born and raised in the lovely and sunny Los Angeles, CA. Sometimes I find it hard to talk about myself, why... I'm not sure LOL. I really want to be a radio personality. Talking about clothes, celebs, and all that jazz is just great for me. My free time consists of blogging, shopping, binge watching a very high count of series' on Netflix, and going out from time to time. I would prefer going out more but it doesn't always work that way. I love meeting people and making connections. Considering that I'm a person of many many many interest it shouldn't be that hard.

Why did you start blogging?

I have always complimented on my style. Then one particular day a classmate told me I should start a blog. After she said it, I felt like it became everybody's thought because I started to hear it more. I never followed through with it. Life took a turn and I was unemployed. Eventually, I just didn't like where my thoughts were and I knew I was always happy when I spoke of fashion, style, clothes, etc. Once I had the name down and ready, I just started blogging. Stylish Proportions came to life in June 2013. I love doing it. I see it as a release for me but also a way to reach out.

Who is your blog for?

Being a people person, I aim for everybody. I've related to all sorts of people and I never just thought of the focusing on one area. I just want to be taken in as a source the person who needs inspiration through style, knowing that they can go with whatever they have, put it on and feel great. Confidence is everything. I can show you something, and you can make it your own.

What's something you've been working on lately that you're really proud of?

Stylish Proportions. My blog is everything to me. It's the first thing that I can really say is mines. I'm happy that I eventually listened. Building up this blog has taught me so many skills and even things about myself (example....patience). It's always fulfilling taking care of my baby! :)

What's the ONE MESSAGE that people take away from your blog?

My message would be to BE YOURSELF. I'm not greater than anyone and I never act as if I am. Plenty of my posts, I have said that I shop on clearance racks and I use what I have in my closet. It's true. I'm not being paid for any of this. I just display that you don't need the newest everything to be fly. You can do anything that makes you happy, this is my way! I want to inspire. I want to be that helping hand if need be. I am that type of person. I just don't want anyone to get the message that I'm doing this to get free stuff... that was never the goal.

xo. Bring on Day 2!

OOTD : 50 Shades O'Tulle

Last week was definitely a rough one. We all have our moments where we just don't want to put on clothes, answer the phone, blah blah blah. We'll just call it "Me Time" LOL. That was me (life happens). I was on bum status and I didn't care. Eventually I would have to get out though.

Sunday, I had an assembly to attend. There was definitely a certain way I wanted to look because a few weeks ago I bought some new shoes and a clutch and I wanted them to be part of my ensemble. Recalling a gift card I won, I knew it would be a great time to use it. Saturday morning I went to the mall in search for something to fit my vision. Nothing too long to cover my shoes. Something that would get me through the heat. Very stylish.

Now, there is a lesson at the end of this LOL. I went into Windsor, saw a skirt I adored, but didn't think it would work out. I went around to some of my other favorite stores and I couldn't find AN-Y-THIN-G! After I went around, I went back to the floor where I parked and on the way out was Windsor, ... That skirt was mines.

In the end, it all worked out perfectly. I loved every bit of it from my hair down to my shoes. Minus my shoes, skirt, and clutch, everything else was from my closet.

I was going for simple. So on my lips I used my NYX's matte lip cream in the color Transylvania (my favorite, check out my obsession post here). Also that is my natural hair. I put it in a puff and used Creme of Nature's Butter-licious Curls for my curls.

This look gave me to much life. It was as if I didn't spend the days before in leggings and sweats. I'm still trying to figure out where I can where this outfit to again LOL ... yes it's that serious :)

Skirt: Windsor
Clutch and Shoes: BCBG
Blazer: Macy's  (old)
Lippie: NYX

xo, darlings.

ps. I've decided to do a blog challenge for the next 7 days. It's the Feel Good blogging Challenge by the super amazing Alex Beadon. You can read about it here . So later on today there will be another post starting my challenge. I'm pretty excited and I challenge any of my fellow bloggers out there. Something different, I mean, why not!
